The stupid fools who think it’s a good idea to bring a cowbell to an indoor baseball game are beyond me. How do they not get beat up by other fans who get annoyed with them? It’s Florida… the standards are quite low which helps to keep Florida Man meme generators employed.

At the end of the day Travis Shaw doesn’t belong in the b MLB anymore and Franchy is doing great in AAA so why not give him another chance while we need a spark. Maybe it will give Dalbec a boost since he will be fighting for playing time. Last time he was fighting for playing time was when we made the trade for Kyle and i’m pretty sure that worked out very well. I never understood why Shaw was brought back last year. He has been awful since 2019. Release him and bring up Cordero.

Black hole after Verdugo. I feel bad for anyone who paid for tickets to today's game.

Bad look for the Red Sox for not including Orsillo in the Remy tribute last night. So many Red Sox fans grew up listening to Remdog and Orsillo broadcast the Red Sox games. Perhaps they were concerned that the fans would recognize how boring and bland the current NESN broadcast crew is by comparison.

Multiple Red Sox players, including Houck, are expected to miss the Toronto series as unvaccinated people are not permitted to enter Canada. Players will be put on a restricted list and they will not be paid or accrue service time while on the list.

NESN really did hire Mazz for regular season games. He makes John Sterling sound competent. Thank goodness for the mute button.

You are not going to win many games with such a black hole in the bottom 3rd of the order. None of them should be in MLB at this point after such poor years in 2021.

I would say game 6. My wife was holding our 6 month old son ( now off to college in the fall). She was tired and started putting him in a playpen and I told her she had to hold him until the end of the game or we would be jinxed. She did and we won. I was also holding a ball I got during bp of game 3 which the Yankees won 19-8.

He’s a double away now from the cycle and we’re in the bottom of the 3rd inning 😂 I thought Binelas was the prize in the deal but maybe it’s Hamilton. Brilliant move by Chaim Can he play right field?

Ironic that likely no team would claim either Shaw or Roebles, both of whom could be out of baseball by July. Bloom's roster management is deficient. I wouldn’t go that far. We have to remember that it’s because of Bloom and co. that this decision was even difficult. Bloom has done a great job of building up the back end of the 40 man. We’re not far removed from the days of being able to name 5-8 easy DFAs in the Red Sox system. Bloom has changed that, making this a hard choice. I don’t necessarily agree with the choice, but it’s because of Bloom that a hard choice even had to be made. And who knows, maybe Bazardo will clear and Bloom will come out looking like a genius (I doubt he clears). Shaw will have less than 30 ABs by the time he gets released when rosters shrink back to 26 on May 1. I also can't forsee Roebles getting any meaningful pitching opportunities over the next month. Seems like a waste to lose Bazardo and Garza for those two guys.

NESN broadcast started to go down hill once they let Orsillo go. I am okay with Eck, Millar and Youk. However, NESN dropped the ball bigtime by hiring Mazz as a color analyst. At least the former players bring some perspectives which can be interesting and/or funny. Mazz voice is annoying as hell and he does very little prep work as evidenced his baseball takes which are typically quite bad.

Watching a little of today’s game. That Tony Mazz really has a voice made for print media. Mazz has such a whiny voice and his baseball takes are just as bad. I can’t listen to him. It’s either change the channel or mute.

I don’t understand the calls to trade for Myers. The Red Sox already traded for one overpaid OF and middling prospects this offseason. They are only going as far as their starting pitching which is not great.

That is crazy money to sign Freeman for at 32. Glad the Red Sox did not get him. This team at the moment is a below .500 team. If they are in that position at June 30 it may be time to offload Martinez, Eovalsi, Vazquez, etc.

I don't see why the Red Sox would trade for Myers and a couple of middling prospects. They already did that with Bradley whose bad contract and limited production is going to hamstring the Red Sox for the next two years. The prospects they received are not worth the payroll drain. I would rather they use the money to sign Devers to a long term contract than trade for another bad contract.

This trade doesn't make any sense from either a talent level or a financial perspective. Giving up Renfroe for a 4th OF and two middling prospects makes the team weaker. The financial impact is even worse with JBJ due $24 million over the next 2 years. WTF.

So Araoz, Davis, Locastro and Valdez were kept on the 40 man roster? There was a very good chance none of those guys would have been claimed. Exposing Jimenez and Ward doesn’t make much sense as both will likely be picked as well as possibly Cottam.

There still are some guys on the 40 man roster who could be released if the Red Sox need to the space to protect some of the prospects. This includes Arauz, Valdex, Davis and Locastro.

Damn, why couldnt the Sox have seen this version of Framber Valdez in Game 5? The Braves are hammering him in the first inning. Last time it was 1 run in 8 innings. This time he's already given up at least 2 runs in the 1st inning. Well, for one thing he stopped touching his hair after every pitch like he did in Game 5 of the ALCS. Perhaps Cora was afraid to ask the umpires to check him given his own history.

The Red Sox have no obligation to pass on the top player on their board and let the Baltimore Orioles get their man. By all accounts they made a good faith effort to sign him. Most people seem to think that the Red Sox disappointing offer was clearly better for Fabian than the only alternative that was available. If everyone looked at the situation and thought he'd likely get $6 million next year, then the reactions on here would be different. Players should honor their pre-draft figures because under typical circumstances they do not have the leverage to significantly increase their demands after the draft. They will just go unsigned. But if say, the Mets third rounder this year took advantage of the Kumar Rocker situation and doubled his demand and actually got the money - then hell yeah, good for him. It's a shame that the draft strips away the negotiating power of amateur players and if I were dictator of the world, this system would not be in place. But this is the game they're stuck playing.Right, my point is that's bad, and instead of just accepting that it's bad, we should point it out. It's unfair to the player who isn't able to earn the money that employers are willing to pay him, and unfair to the team willing to pay a player more than another team. And again, not just willing to pay more because they're richer and able to pay more, but pay more out of a capped pool. In the pre-capped era, Fabian would've gotten his money because there really wouldn't be any reason to not sign a guy over like a $300K difference. But by capping the pool, you're stripping even more leverage away from the players. As far as the Red Sox not doing anything wrong... I dunno. They have no obligation to pay a player as much as another team in a draft system, that's for sure. But drafting kids who have no leverage and pitting them against each other in the way they did stretches the boundaries of ethics at the very least. They knew the bonus demands of Fabian and Hickey and used their lack of leverage against them. That is one of the many things messed up with MLB draft. A player's contract demands should have zero bearing on when said player gets picked. I view it kinda like my kids when they were younger. You get what you get and don't get upset. I don't feel the least bit sorry that the Red Sox didn't sign Fabian.

Was Barnes laughing at that last pitch with the room service fastball right down the middle? The Jays were certainly laughing. Embarrassing.
